General Assembly 2010
The 2nd General Assembly of Maldives Open Source Society took place on the 8th of June, 2010 at Giyasuddheen International School hall. The GA is the annual meeting of all the members of MOSS gathered together to make decisions on elections and further give input for it's operations and activities. In the course of the meeting the following took place.
- An introductory speech by the former President, Inash Zubair on the last years activities and progress.
- A thank you speech by the former Programme Coordinator, Yusuf Abdulla Shunan to all those who contributed to MOSS and it's cause.
- Election of the following as the new Steering Committee for the following year.
- Ismail Faiz - President
- Yusuf Abdulla Shunan - Vice President
- Robert Boettcher - Secretary
- Hussain Sharaah - Treasurer
- Ibrahim Sobah - Public Relations Coordinator
- Mohamed Malik - Programme Coordinator
- An introduction to the future plans and activities activities by the new Vice President, Yusuf Abdulla Shunan.
- An introductory speech by the new President, Ismail Faiz.
- An introductory speech by the new Secretary, Robert Boettcher.
Last the meeting was opened for a Q&A session for the members, this included input from willing members who wants to assist MOSS in finding solutions and promoting it's cause.
In conclusion this is a new beginning for MOSS, for MOSS stands for an ambitious aim at the wider adoption and recommendation of Free/Libre Open Source Software in the Maldives. In this aim, similar to last year, MOSS will play an active role in sharing and helping those opting to make the switch. This year it is the duty of MOSS to sensitise the government and public, the first steps in achieving our objectives, so as to adhere to our Mission.
